Breathe California Sacramento Region is dedicated to healthy air and preventing lung and other air pollution related diseases by partnering with youth, advocating public policy, supporting air pollution research and educating the public.
We are bringing air quality awareness to people by providing electric cars to communities in need, implementing food waste recycling programs and advocating for pedestrian-friendly land use. From maintaining tobacco-free multi-unit housing like apartments and condominiums, to influencing how tobacco is viewed in the media, Breathe is dedicated to creating a tobacco-free future.
From fighting tuberculosis in 1917 to generating clean energy now, Breathe California Sacramento Region has developed a national reputation for finding ground-breaking and creative solutions to the region’s greatest lung health threats.
Through our rich history spanning over 100 years, Breathe has made lasting changes. We helped make light rail a reality in Sacramento, pioneered the creation of smoke-free workplaces and restaurants, fought for the passage of the Proposition 99 tobacco tax initiative, and played an instrumental role in phasing out rice straw burning in the Sacramento Valley.
